Membership Types

Active: A person who is either a real estate broker or agent, property manager or developer and who is licensed by the State of California Department of Real Estate, and as a principal, partner, corporate office, trustee, or employee, and spends at least 75% of his or her working time in the field of commercial real estate brokerage, management, or development. Active Membership in ACRE is owned by the individual and is not transferable to another individual or within a company. ACRE's bylaws require that 75% of the membership be active members.

Associate: Companies, organizations, or licensed individuals who spend at least 75% of his or her working time in the field of commercial real estate in any of the following subcategories:  Insurance Provider; Attorney Licensed to Practice Law; Licensed Real Property Appraiser; Lender, Licensed Mortgage Broker; Licensed General Contractor (Category GC); Licensed Architect; Licensed Civil, Structural or Environmental Engineer; Provider of Exchange Intermediary Services. Associate Membership for licensed members is owned by the individual, unless a company membership is requested.  Associate Membership for unlicensed members is owned by the company.

If membership is designated as company membership, the company may replace its designated representative. Replacement requests must be made in writing on company letterhead.

Affiliate: Individuals, companies or organizations directly involved in commercial real estate in allied fields who do not otherwise qualify for active membership. Affiliate Membership may be either individual, or by company.

Student: ACRE is offering five free student memberships to students who have an interest in pursuing a career in commercial real estate. To be eligible the candidate must be a full-time student (12 credits or equivalent per semester) in a 2 or 4 year college. It is expected that the student will participate in the monthly ACRE events, usually held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

A student membership for ACRE is:

• Non-voting

• Open to any full-time college student defined as carrying 12 units in a community, private or state college

The membership would include a stipend of $200 for the student to draw down to attend ACRE meetings and activities.  Students may serve on ACRE committees.

A student application is posted on the ACRE website for students from other colleges to access.  Up to 5 students will be accepted each year.  The membership period will run from October through September.  Applications will be accepted only during the month of September and reviewed for approval at the ACRE October board meeting.  The deadline for submission will be October 1, of each year.

Membership fees cover a twelve-month period beginning the month the application is approved by the ACRE Board of Directors. Members will receive a notice 60 days prior to the expiration date for the annual renewal of dues.

ACRE bylaws require that Associate Membership in a particular subcategory not exceed 10% of the total Active Membership, and the total Affiliate Membership not exceed 25% of the total Active Membership. Associate and Affiliate Members may be wait-listed until the ratio and other policy limitations on membership categories have been satisfied.

ACRE Membership Fees

  ** Licensed commercial real estate brokers with less than 2 years of experience may join ACRE for a special rate of $75.  This rate offers all of the membership benefits of ACRE.
